A BETTER
NORTH CAROLINA

STARTS HERE.

GO FOR DR. YO!

MEET YOLONDA

A fearless, purpose-driven leader who prioritizes serving the voice of the people as promised, is what you can expect from Dr. Yolonda Holmes, affectionately known as Dr. Yo.

In 2022, I campaigned against Tricia Cotham.  I filed the paperwork to serve in March for a primary race occurring in May. In that short time, I was able to assemble a team, mobilize and execute a strong grassroots effort. This hard work resulted in a vote difference of 826 between the campaigns. Think for a moment, less than 1,000 votes contributed to the political landscape of North Carolina today.

Share my commitment to serving constituents for the betterment of North Carolina. I stand on principle, and I am committed to serving House District 105.

WHAT MAKES DR. YO DIFFERENT...

THE HEART AND VISION OF THE PEOPLE,

NOT A POLITICIAN

Policy

WOMEN'S PAY EQUITY

Pay equity for women and minorities will strengthen both families and the economy.  North Carolinians need a living wage to improve the ability of heads of households to support their families. Childcare expenses are out of sync with earnings and often force families to make tough decisions weighing finances against time spent with their children.

EQUITABLE EDUCATION

North Carolina needs to develop equitable learning environments. This should be a topic of conversation in the years to come. Transparency of inequities in the learning environment is a necessity. A need exists to examine best practices and to utilize the data on this subject. The pandemic threw teachers, administrators and support staff into the role of front-line workers.  They rose to the challenge for our children, but their salaries do not reflect their talents, time, or  experience.

HEALTH EQUITY

Health equity is a global issue that must be addressed at the federal and local levels in tandem. Some citizens continue to have a lack of trust in our healthcare system for many reasons. Healthcare needs to be inclusive and meet the needs of all.

Our vision is for all citizens, regardless of race and background, to be afforded the opportunity to receive quality healthcare.
